Played two years of tee-ball and 6 years of little league baseball in Madison Heights growing up

I have two sons Dylan (age 14) and Cory (age 11). Dylan is playing Lamphere JV. Cory is the youngest player in the division

Mustang Goals Players of this age have established their fundamentals and are less receptive to instruction. My goal is to work with each player to determine what role they want baseball to play in their lives going forward. Based upon their goals let's determine the steps needed to meet those goals. Goals include fundamentals, family, exercise, grades, networking, self-evaluation, player promotion. I have a good network of contacts that extend beyond Madison Heights Baseball. I was able to get Caleb Liske exposed to the South Oakland A's where he is now a player on their 14U roster. A good fit for him, but every player is following a unique path through this sport

Coaching Strategies

Defense Setup Players prove their strengths and weaknesses in a variety of drills before games begin. Players are coached skills at all positions, asked preferred positions.
For each game a fielding matrix is determined before the game. The matrix will have 2 versions. One version for games that are close (5 runs or less) and games that are not competitive. Players are given more variety in fielding assignments when the game is not competitive.
Defense Pitcher Our team will be aggressive in attempts to get runners on base to out. The pitchers have a difficult time throwing strikes and at this level of play. Getting players out on base takes pressure away from pitcher.
Batting Lineup Batting average, on-base percentage, base running speed, and current trend will be determined for batting line up. An attempt will be made to have each player lead off bat at least once per year.
